Information You Send Directly
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. Binghamton Residents Directory does not retain a copy of those searches on its own servers. If you contact us, the information available to us is the content of your message, which we use to respond.
Automatic Technical Information
Our hosting service records routine server-log information, including an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. We review aggregated information to maintain the service and understand how visitors use it. Cookies or similar tools may be used for basic analytics and, when applicable, advertising measurement.
How We Use Visitor Information
We use the limited information described above to operate the service, resolve technical issues, measure traffic, and improve its content. We do not sell lists of visitors or create individual visitor profiles.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Broome County and New York records portals, library collections, archives, or third-party search services. Their policies control information submitted after leaving this service. The same is true for sponsored search results supplied by a third party.
Service Providers and Disclosures
Hosting and support providers process server logs on our behalf. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. We may disclose information when valid legal process requires disclosure, and do not disclose it for other reasons.
Safeguards and Retention
The service uses an encrypted connection. Server logs are retained only for the time needed for the purposes described here. Because the service has no accounts, it does not hold a site password or account profile that could be exposed.
Visitors Under 18
This service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly gather personal information from people under 18. If you believe that a minor has sent personal information to us, contact us so it can be removed.
Your Privacy Requests
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information a website retains. The research did not identify a new New York consumer-privacy statute governing this service, so this policy keeps those rights statements general. Since we retain very little, a request normally involves checking the contact mailbox and relevant server logs, then removing information found there. Use the Contact page to make a request.
Public records held by Binghamton, Broome County, or New York agencies are outside our control. New York's Freedom of Information Law is Public Officers Law Article 6, §§84–90. It governs qualifying agency records and includes privacy and statutory exemptions. A request to remove, correct, or obtain a government record must go to the public-record custodian that holds the record, not to this private service.
Changes to This Policy
Any revision to this policy will appear here. Continued use of the service after a revision means you accept the policy as updated.
